This week, as the world celebrates Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), I find myself reflecting on my personal journey over the past decade. Wangaraufoods was born 10 years ago, and this milestone is a moment of pride, gratitude, and deep reflection for me.
Entrepreneurship is, for lack of a better word, bittersweet. It’s rewarding, yet immensely challenging. It’s fulfilling, yet often exhausting. People who knew me 10 years ago would never have imagined I’d come this far, honestly, there were times I doubted myself too.
There were sleepless nights, tears shed in private, and even moments in the office where I’d break down, wipe my face, and then go out to cheer on my team. It’s been a decade of consistency, resilience, grit, and unwavering determination.
When I started Wangaraufoods, I didn’t just set up a business, I planted a seed and nurtured it over time. Over the years, I built systems that would allow us to scale and thrive. From accounting and inventory management to HR and automation, each system was carefully developed step by step. I taught myself everything I needed to know, not all at once, but as challenges arose. Every new problem brought with it an opportunity to learn, adapt, and grow, not just as a company, but as a leader.
But no journey is ever truly solo. Wangaraufoods wouldn’t have reached this milestone without the incredible people who supported and believed in the vision:
- To my team: You are the lifeblood of this company. Your hard work and belief in our mission inspire me every day.
- To my mentors: Your guidance and encouragement have been the light that carried me through moments of doubt.
- To our partners: Thank you for empowering us and helping us make a lasting impact.
- To our customers: You are the reason we continue to innovate and improve. Your loyalty and trust keep us striving for excellence.
As I celebrate 10 years of entrepreneurship, I also want to recognize and celebrate every entrepreneur out there. This journey isn’t easy, but it’s worth it. For those nights spent strategizing, the risks taken, the obstacles overcome, this week is for you.
To aspiring Entrepreneurs, know this:
- Your doubts don’t define you. Even when you feel uncertain, keep moving forward.
- Celebrate every small win. They add up to big successes.
- Build over time. You don’t have to have everything figured out at the start. Take it step by step.
- Surround yourself with the right people. Your team, mentors, and supporters are your foundation.
Here’s to the next chapter of Wangaraufoods and to all the dreamers, doers, and changemakers. Together, we are shaping the future.
Happy Global Entrepreneurship Week!
