It’s Thursday, and we’re throwing it back to reflect on our growth since 2014. Wangaraufoods began with a vision to provide premium quality food products that are accessible, well-packaged, and meet the needs of our diverse customers. We wanted to do our part to reduce unemployment as well. What started in my house has now grown into a thriving business with over 75 staff members. Our team includes graduates, women, people with disabilities, and those from low-income backgrounds. Reflecting on this journey fills me with immense pride and gratitude.
In the early days, it was just me. Later, my house cleaner became my first employee. Together, we worked from my home to source, process, and package food manually. Our goal was to deliver high-quality products to our customers. Bit by bit, we built a loyal customer base. They trusted us to provide convenience and quality with each product.
KEY MILESTONES ALONG THE WAY
2014 – Starting at Home:
Wangaraufoods was born in my living room. Every batch of food was processed by hand with the help of one assistant. We sourced ingredients, packaged food, and handled delivery—all from that space. It was a humble beginning, but every effort was filled with passion and a commitment to quality.

2019 – Moving to Our First Brick-and-Mortar Location:
As our customer base grew, we moved out of my house and into our first commercial space in 2019. This expansion was possible thanks to my then Oga and the World Bank/GEM program. The new space allowed us to purchase equipment, increase our employee strength, and handle more orders.
2021 – Transitioning to a Larger Factory and Overcoming the Pandemic:

The Wangaraufoods team celebrating an occasion at the factory – an inspiring reminder of the close-knit community and the people who make it all possible.

2024 and Beyond – Scaling New Heights:

Wangaraufoods’ current factory location at 58, McCullum Street, serving as a central hub for both local and international operations.
Now, in 2024, we’re focused on expanding further. With a growing international market, new sustainable practices like biodegradable packaging, and programs to empower our workforce, the future looks bright for Wangaraufoods. Our commitment to building a global brand rooted in quality, sustainability, and community remains strong.
